The Gallery Is Open!

By Katina Connolly | July 22, 2020

It’s been an exciting few weeks at the Capitol Centre. This week we have officially re-opened the WKP Kennedy Gallery for your viewing pleasure! Visitors are welcome on Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only, please email Alix at [email protected] to reserve a time. As per local health requirements, all visitors are required to wear a mask which we are not able to provide so please plan accordingly to avoid disappointment.

We also were encouraged to hear news of Phase 3 finally coming into effect. Unfortunately, public gatherings are still limited to a maximum of 50 people indoors which does not allow for financially responsible events. Instead, we are optimistic that as Phase 3 goes on and individuals follow the necessary preventative health recommendations, we will soon be able to have gatherings of 100-200 people at which point we will prepare to re-open the theatre. We finally seem to have a light at the end of the tunnel.

In the meantime, virtual programming efforts are ongoing. Our SharedBenefit Summer Concert Series kicked off earlier this month and it’s been so much fun to have artists back on our stage. We’ve been prerecording videos to share with you every Thursday night. These concerts are free to view but we are asking for donations to help during such unusual times. All donations will be shared equally between the Capitol Centre and the artist and we both appreciate your support.

We also added the Cultural Dance Showcase and the Kennedy Kids Craft Challenge this month so there is a lot happening on the Facebook page – be sure to check it out and follow along. See you at the gallery sometime soon.

Cheers!
