GROOVY DAYS AHEAD
Hello everyone! It’s great to be back at work and even more exciting – we have artists and performers back to work also. I’m thrilled that we seem to be heading in the right direction with Gallery exhibitions and Theatre performances scheduled for the remainder of the year (and more to come next year – stay tuned!).
There’s nothing like kicking off our current season with a celebratory party, COVID style of course. We are very pleased to invite you to our Annual Capitol Centre Charity Gala taking place this Saturday, November 6 at 6:30pm. This year’s theme is 70’s Vinyl Revival featuring Jim Witter’s The Piano Men multi-media show. This is a great way to finally get back into the theatre, experience live entertainment once again, and peruse our historical building including a stop at the WKP Kennedy Gallery which is currently home to a local exhibition. There will be finger foods and beverages, 70’s themed décor and entertainment, and the odd leisure suit making an appearance, I’m sure! This event is our biggest fundraiser of the year and allows us to diversify our programming offerings, care for this landmark building, and focus on accessible events and entertainment for everyone. We have capped attendance and modified the format in order to prioritize the health of our patrons, volunteers and staff. I hope you will join us and make our annual fundraising event a successful and memorable evening. For those that cannot attend, we are putting our silent auction online so keep an eye out for more information on that.
A resounding thanks to our supporters who stood by us during such a challenging time and have made possible our transition back as a COVID-friendly entertainment venue. Additionally, a big thank you to all of our volunteers, staff and especially Dan who took such great care of things in my absence this past year. It was not a normal year and nothing anyone could have planned for but I’m so proud of the Capitol Centre team for exploring virtual entertainment opportunities and engaging with our local artists and audiences throughout the pandemic as well as taking advantage of all the government grants and subsidies to keep us viable. We are excited to welcome Andrew Lawson as the new President of our Board of Directors leading a new executive team and we wish Robert Palangio many well wishes as he steps down as President and Director after 15 years on the Board!
Once again, we have meticulously implemented the various government regulations to ensure your return to the Capitol Centre is a safe and enjoyable experience and can’t wait to see you out.
