100 Years, 100 Perspectives: A Celebration of North Bay’s Centennial Anniversary

It is with great pride and gratitude that we share 100 Years / 100 Perspectives with you — a community exhibition and publication created in celebration of North Bay’s centennial anniversary.

This project began with a simple idea: to honour 100 years of our city’s history by inviting 100 community members to share their unique perspectives through art. Thanks to the generous support of the City of North Bay Centennial Community Hosting Fund, we were able to provide 100 canvases free of charge, ensuring that this opportunity was accessible to artists of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. What emerged is a vibrant and deeply personal portrait of North Bay.

Each artwork in this collection is accompanied by a 100 word artist statement, offering a glimpse into the inspiration, stories, and creative processes behind the piece. Whether focused on a beloved person, a familiar landmark, or a cherished corner of the city, these contributions reflect the diversity, talent, and passion that define our community.

As you explore these pages, I hope you’re moved not only by the individual expressions of creativity, but by the shared sense of connection that ties them together. The exhibition — and now this book — has become a collective love letter to our city, sparking conversation, stories, and a renewed appreciation for the place we all call home.

On behalf of the Capitol Centre – home to the WKP Kennedy Gallery, thank you to all the artists, supporters, and visitors who helped bring this project to life. It is an honour to celebrate North Bay’s 100th year with you.
