Esther Pennell's indigenous heritage hails from the Qalipu Mi'kmaq of Newfoundland and Labrador.

A newcomer to the music world, she discovered her gift of songwriting just 5 years ago and has recorded and released 3 full albums of her original music in the last 4 years. As a songwriter, Esther’s life experiences are the catalyst for her songs about feminine resilience, heartache and joy. Staying grounded through her spiritual connection with the natural world and drawing inspiration from her east coast Mi’kmaq heritage.

Esther’s unique style on the 5-string banjo makes her an innovator and a fresh presence in the world of folk music.

Her folk bluegrass vibe, and a voice that has often been compared to Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLaughlin, has been entertaining her fans all over Quebec and Northern Ontario for the last 5 years.

Songs of strength, love and connection to heritage are Esther's gift to all of us.
