'Luminosity' Pop-Up Solo Show
to
Having recently graduated from the Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Fine
Arts program, it would be the attractive and bountiful natural landscape of
Northern Ontario that would entice Corbin Losereit to pursue his artistic
career and reside within North Bay.
As many of the artist’s inspirations draw upon human connectivity and the
compelling value of natural environments, Corbin has always held an
immense appreciation for the beauty of the land that surrounds us with a
belief that we as humans are inherently connected to such environments. His
series of paintings in the solo exhibition, ‘Luminosity,’ illustrate the ways in
which our position as an individual immersed within such naturally influential
surroundings comes to evoke notions of sanctuary, belonging and
enchantment. As figures become imbued with the lustrous qualities of their
environment, they stand in enamoured fascination, meditative contemplation
and gracious alignment with the wonders of natural beauty.
The paintings included as part of ‘Luminosity’ also stand as products of the
WKP Window Studio project led by the artist as the galleries first live-studio
experience, with an intent of sparking public curiosity and intrigue of seeing
an artist at work. Alongside the public production of his paintings, Corbin has
produced an accompanying video series that guides us through the creative
process—from idea to exhibition. As the work becomes curated along with
the creative developments that have contributed towards the artists
completion, visitors will have the chance to follow along with the work’s
progress through the display of supporting research, sketches, and a
screening of the accompanying videos.
‘Luminosity’ will be on view in the WKP Kennedy Gallery on August 27th
from 12-5pm during the Bay Block Party festivities. Join us in becoming
familiar with Corbin’s work where he will be in attendance to discuss the
project, and to share an appreciation for the joy and wonder of the artmaking
process.
