WKP Window Studio

This summer, we are shedding some light on the artistic journey of producing artwork for a gallery exhibition. With the "WKP Window Studio" project, artist’s Corbin Losereit and Allyssa Marsden will be guiding us through the entire creative process; from idea to exhibition. "WKP Window Studio" is both a live open studio within the physical space of the WKP Kennedy Gallery, matched with an educational video series that provides guidance, influence and relevant knowledge regarding the exhibition of artwork within a gallery space.      "WKP Window Studio" regards not only the display of an artist working in a studio-like setting within the gallery through our downtown window-front, but also the informative video series that will be produced during the open studio serves as a 'window' to observe and become familiar with the process of creation to exhibition.

From July 11th - 29th, Corbin will be setting up a studio within the window-front space of the WKP Kennedy Gallery. As a painter, he will be working to produce a series of paintings that will be used for a mock-up solo show. The studio will be open to the public during regular gallery hours, Tuesday-Friday from 12-4pm, for guests to observe the artist in process, ask questions, and to create a dialogue about the project, creative process, or the gallery. If you are walking downtown throughout July, take a peek on the work being made through our window, and feel free to stop in and say hello!

During his time in the studio, we will be recording the entire process along with Corbin’s advice and guidance to contribute to our educational video series. With the series covering the knowledge of creating work to be exhibited in a gallery space, we will begin from the basics of the creative process of producing a body of work, to curating and installing your work within a gallery space. A creative process is not rigid and does not look the same for every artist. We all practice as artists in our own unique ways, so we will have unique methods when going about our work. However, we believe that by following these guidelines, anyone can successfully work towards their goal of creating a body of work. Our educational video series will be published on August 26th for you to enjoy and learn. Until then, we will see you through the window!
